Irene Lujan Ayala, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024, at the age of 93. Born in Bakersfield, California on April 28, 1930, to Cesario Lujan and Guadalupe Tarango Lujan of San Elisario, Texas, Irene was a proud resident of El Paso, Texas for most of her life. In 2020, she made the decision to move to Phoenix, Arizona to spend her final years with her daughter.
Irene was a strong and resilient woman, outliving all of her siblings: Cesario, Roberto, Raul, Angelina, and Teresa. She was a dedicated mother to her nine children and leaves behind a legacy of love through her 23 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Irene devoted many years of her life to the Ysleta Independent School District, where she worked as a cafeteria manager until her retirement in 1995.
Her family and friends will always remember her for her warm smile, delicious cooking, and unwavering love and support. Irene Lujan Ayala will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
