Veronica Ann Stihel Payne was born in the small coal-mining town Lowber, Fayette County, Pennsylvania on December 6, 1943 to George Stihel and Agnes Rodgers Stihel, her parents being of Slovakian and mixed Eastern European extraction. She is survived by her husband John Joseph Payne, Sr. of 57 years of marriage, an original inhabitant of Green City, MO, her daughter Sharon Ann Payne Wilson, of Waddell, AZ, her son Rev. Father John Joseph Payne, of New Orleans (Bell City) LA and her son in law Robert Wilson. Her younger sister Rosemary Stihel Oswald and her older brother George Patrick Stihel survive her while her fraternal twin Valeria Stihel Wilson, older brother Leonard Stihel, and sister Agnes "Babe" Stihel Atkinson preceded her in death, as well as her mother and father Agnes Rodgers Stihel (a.k.a. Bubba), and George Stihel Sr. She liked to do volunteer work, keep an impeccably clean house and cook for her loved ones. Always of an opinionated and animated nature, she will be greatly missed by those whom she knew and were blessed to have known her. She will have her cremains buried in Belle Vernon Cemetery with her mother and father and other relatives at a later date.
