The story of
Valerie Jean Reese (Nevels) was born on October 10th, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Ralph and Katherine Nevels, both of whom proceeded her in death. Valerie was the eldest of 5 children and grew up on the east side of Detroit. She was educated in the Detroit public school system and graduated from Pershing High School in 1974. Valerie was married to Dennis Reese; to this union one child was born. Valerie worked for the Henry Ford Health System for 20 years before leaving in 2002. Valerie loved to dress. Her larger than life personality always left an impression on everyone she met. She also loved spending time with family, moving from Detroit to Georgia then Arizona to take care of her parents. Valerie continued to live in Arizona until her death on January 1st, 2024. Valerie leaves to cherish her memory, 2 children, Dina (Arthur Jr) Berry, Anthony Reese, 5 Grandchildren, Arthur "AJ" Berry III, Kyra Berry, Jazmyne Reese, Sanae Johnson and Airis Johnson. She also leaves 4 siblings: Teresa (Walter) Johnson, Curtis (Gina) Nevels, Melinda (Charles) Bradley and LaShawn Nevels. 3 Great Grandchildren, 9 nieces and nephews, 2 Aunts, 2 Uncles and a host of family and friends. She also had a life long companion, Cleophus Knoll Jr (Anthony's Father of whom proceeded her in death.)
