Tragic circumstances unfolded on the morning of Thursday September 28th, in the Colonial Heights neighborhood, claiming the life of Traves Daniel Barisich of Portland Oregon, 46 years old. A fourth generation Portlander and neighborhood local, he was born on February 25th, 1977 to Ellen & Daniel Barisich. Traves Barisich’s life was marked by a battle with bipolar disorder and inevitable substance abuse, neither of which could ultimately overshadow the mark he left on friends, family, and his loved ones. In a gesture of shared grief, an outpouring from friends remembering his kindness and generosity were shared on social media. He graduated from Cleveland High School in 1995, and briefly attended the University of Oregon. He was known for his interest in anthropology, indigenous cultures, and dedication to art. Traves Barisich is survived by his two sisters, Tracie Barisich and Allison Cady. Additionally he is survived by his ex-fiance Delphin McCrory, and former step son Ethan Barfield. He is also survived by many cherished aunts and uncles whose love for him never ceased. He is preceded in death by his mother and father Ellen and Daniel Barisich. A memorial event to celebrate Traves Barisich’s life will be held at a later date, details will follow in a social media post from the family. Friends and loved ones are invited to attend and share their memories.
