The story of
Timothy Lee Young II passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 19th, 2025. He was 41 years old. His family and friends are deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden passing, but they take comfort in the many joyful memories he leaves behind. Timothy is survived by the love of his life, Nancy “Bumzilla” Curtis, and her children, Peyton “Bum” Curtis and Jaxon “Pauuul” Myers. He will always be remembered by his loving mother, Irene Hilliard, stepfather, Ronald Hilliard, sister, Jennifer Young, and daughter, Kali Young. His memory also lives on through his niece and nephews: Jaelee Marie Taylor (9), Logan James Young (18), and Brandon Dean Blake Taylor (13). He was preceded in death by his father, Timothy Lee Young, who passed away in 2015. Tim was born on October 06, 1984, at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance, California. He entered this world at a whopping 10 pounds, 2.5 ounces and 23 inches long and seemed to never stop growing, reaching 6’4” as an adult. He began his education at just three years old at Gethsemane Baptist Church and School in Long Beach. He later attended First Baptist Church and Elementary School of Lakewood, Brethren Christian Jr. High in Huntington Beach, and Lakewood High School. Though he didn’t complete high school as a teen, Tim earned his GED later in life, a reflection of his determination and lifelong love of learning. Always eager to improve himself, he pursued HVAC training in 2018 and later studied Electronics Engineering at Red Rock Community College in Arizona in 2022. As a teen, Tim was a talented athlete and musician. He played ice hockey in a city league, excelled in football with the Brethren Junior High Warriors, and shined as a drummer—earning second place at the state championships. As an adult, he was a loyal fan of the San Diego (now Los Angeles) Chargers. In his free time, he loved fishing - something he learned as a toddler from his Grandpa Davis at the family’s river house. Whether in Colorado reservoirs or Arizona lakes, Tim found peace by the water, fishing pole in hand. Tim’s childhood revolved around Long Beach, California, but he moved around quite a bit after reaching his teenage years. Tim resided in Riverside, California with his father and then moved to Aurora, Colorado, to be near his mother. He lived a short time in Pekins, Illinois, with his sister until finally following his mother and stepfather to Mesa, Arizona. Tim spent most of his working career, nearly 23 years, as a professional mover, beginning at age 15 with Grabel Van Lines, a moving and storage company where his mom and sister both worked. Tim had an incredible talent for organizing things, and he could pack a van as if it were a master’s game of Tetris. Tim had various other jobs over the years. He worked as a Landscaper and a Poultry Worker (yes, he fed chickens, collected eggs, and maintained watering and heating systems for the chickens). He worked in as a warehouseman, a closet and furniture assembler, an auto detailer, and finally a Home Depot associate and Forklift Driver. Tim loved to work. No matter what the job, he gave 110% into everything he did. He was always on the go, always ready for the next challenge. The “ants in his pants” kept him moving. He had to stay busy. Tim was a master artist with the ability to sketch anything and everything in such detail that it would leap off the page. He occasionally talked about learning to tattoo. He could have been so good. His most recent dream was to start a “curb painting” business, and he was beyond excited to see it in full operation. He recently invested in the equipment to start his new business venture, but, unfortunately, he never had the chance to paint even his first curb. Tim loved animals and grew up with various animals always around him. Dogs, birds, snakes, squirrels…his association was vast growing up, but dogs ranked number one. Losing his beloved dog, Lilly, last year, broke his heart, but he cherished every moment he had with her. Known for his playful spirit, Tim was never far from a camera—whether taking photos or goofing off in front of one. He shared his mom’s love of capturing memories, even if he liked to tease her for taking too many pictures. A true horror movie enthusiast, Tim enjoyed everything from paranormal thrillers to gory classics. In Colorado, you could often find him cruising around on his skateboard; in Arizona, it was his e-bike. Always moving, always exploring—that was our Tim. Tim was officially a Pokémon “Trainer”. For anyone out of the loop, that means he was a ‘Pokémon Go’ player. He loved Pokémon Go. He could always be found turning every street and landmark into an adventure. “Gotta Catch ‘Em All”. He couldn’t be happier when he got a Pokémon cake for his 40th birthday. – the perfect celebration for him. Tim was a true “foodie” at heart. He loved discovering new flavors and could often be found at any of his favorite spots—Los Fabs Mexican Restaurant, Pete’s Fish and Chips, and Angie’s Lobster for breakfast, to name only a few. He could eat as well as cook. He was so proud of his BBQ Ribs. He’d share them and show off his BBQ skills whenever possible. He loved anything and everything pickled. If it had “pickle” on the label, he was sure to love it. He was mid-pickling process, and, besides his loved ones, he left behind multiple jars of cucumbers, which are still fermenting. He loved testing his taste buds with heat, trying the spiciest and hottest foods he could find. Add that love to his love for pulling pranks, and you end up watching an 11-year-old try to swallow the hottest ever gummy bears from Sweeties while tears and sweat poured down his face. There’s that humor we all loved. Tim finally met the love of his life, Nancy Curtis, in December of 2022. Scrolling Facebook dating, they started talking early December and went on their first date December 30th. They met up in downtown Mesa Az and it was love at first sight. He asked her on that first night to be his forever girlfriend. They drove around that New Years Eve and were destined to be together always. From that moment on, they were never apart, until now. He found great joy in sharing life with Nancy, especially when it came to music. Together, they traveled to Las Vegas to see their favorite band, In This Moment—a trip he talked about often. He even decorated his car with painted song titles and album art. More recently, they attended a Twin Temple concert in Mesa, AZ, which made his day. Tim was a Disney fan from youth to adulthood, especially all the adrenaline rides. The benefits of growing up in California. He celebrated his 40th birthday with a three-day visit to Disneyland Park, Disney’s California Adventure, and the Halloween festivities at Oogie Boogie Bash. He was back for Oogie Boogie again at 41. We can’t say if it was the parks that made him so happy or sharing the happy experience with Nancy, his love. We’re going with it being more about Nancy and the kids. He did love Disneyland all the same. Tim always found a way to help anyone, from helping people with heavy lifting when they needed to move, building a Gazebo in the summer heat, or anything anyone asked him to do. Tim was a devoted giver; He’d been donating Plasma since he was 18 years old. He started donating to help other people. He would do most anything anyone asked of him and help anytime. Tim went so far with his desire to help that once he dumped out his full Halloween candy bag while on the Ferris Wheel at Disney California Adventure, then offered it up as a vomit bag for Nancy. We want to tell him to maybe nott pick the swinging basket next time, Tim. We hope he hears us. Tim had those demons of addiction that he struggled with since his early teens and into adulthood. Every rehabilitation effort to sobriety lasted longer and longer over the passage of time. He had been more successful recently, accomplishing great strides in his rehabilitation over the past three years. Nancy explained it as “So many more good days than bad”. His mom was seeing the son she loved. Tim loved his family and wanted to be better for them as well as himself. He is missed by so many and loved deeply by so many more. A Facebook link described him quite accurately: Tim has a fighting spirit with a heart bigger than the universe. He smiles, even when he’s hurting inside. He’s stronger than anyone knows because he has faced more than you can imagine. He is loyal and selfless, but he has no time for fake friends, he just spends time with people who are real and down to earth. He isn’t angry often, but when he is…. RUN! Tim’s cousin said it best: Tim had a rare gift for making people feel good about themselves and their lives. He commanded a room just by walking into it and his charisma was rooted in the way he saw the best in everyone. He wasn’t just a bright spot; he created them, and you could see it reflected in the shining eyes of everyone around him. Tim, you are loved and you are missed by so many.
