Timothy Allen McCarten passed away in his home during the month of June. It seems Tim died of heart failure, brought on by complications from his diabetes. He was 67 years old.
Despite his diabetes, Tim maintained his daily routine. Each morning he would walk his usual two mile path around Edmonds College and a nearby golf course. Afterwards he would read his newspaper (print version) and drink his coffee.
Tim was born March 3, 1959 in Portland, Oregon to Lawrence and Mary Ann McCarten. Following his graduation from Lynnwood High School, Tim went on to earn a computer science degree from Washington State University.
Following college graduation, Tim went to work for Boeing as a software engineer, where he spent his career, before retiring around 2015.
During his years at Boeing, Tim worked on 747-400 and 777 airliners as well as the missile guidance system for the B2 bomber.
Tim spent his leisure time hiking, bicycling, skiing (downhill and cross country). He loved showing off his many hundreds of hiking photographs. Everyone in Tim’s life can attest to his passion for the outdoors and his infectious laugh. Tim’s sense of humor was a delight and uniquely Irish and McCarten.
