The story of
Terrence M. Jackson, age 78, died peacefully on June 2nd, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Terry was a cherished and beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle, cousin, and friend. Terry was born in Omaha, Nebraska on October 15, 1946, to Robert George Jackson “Buzz” and Yvette Suzanne Simone Jackson “Suzi” (nee Meunier) and was a Las Vegas resident for nearly his entire life, after his family moved to the valley when he was only 6 years old. Terry was a beacon of light in a world that can sometimes be dark. A true role model for morality, hard work and kindness. Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Suzi and Buzz Jackson, his sisters Patricia E. Vander Griend “Patty” and Kathleen M. Fox “Kitty”. Terry is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Beverly D. Jackson, his daughter, Justine D. Jackson, his son, Sean M. Jackson, his 2 grandchildren, Oliver and Amber Riley, and his loving sister, Penelope A. Porter. Terry was a fortunate man with many dear friends and extended family, including cherished in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. Terry Jackson had exceptional academic gifts, he graduated from the historic Las Vegas High School in 1964. As a young man he worked summers in Vegas working as a crap dealer at the El Cortez, hired by Jackie Gaughn, and was a lifeguard in the Summers. Terry received a full ride scholarship to Oregon State University, earning a B.S. in Mathematics in 1968. As a member of the Beta Epsilon Chapter at OSU, he furthered his studies in grad school by studying Economics, before discovering a new passion, studying Law. Terry had an analytical mind and was a voracious reader, which paved the way for him to obtain a degree in Law from the prestigious Howard University, passing the Nevada State Bar and the California State Bar. Terry started his career with Clark County Legal Services and then worked as a Criminal Defense attorney for the Clark County Public Defender’s Office for 25 years. Not long after becoming a lawyer, Terry found his true purpose in life, when he met the woman who would become his wife of 40 years, Beverly. They met in the most Vegas way imaginable, at a Poker Table, trying to outplay each other and then falling in love. Terry and Beverly raised a son and daughter and enjoyed a wonderful life together, fortunate to travel with them to many beautiful places including an extended trip all over Europe, Hawaii and many beautiful places, including his favorite, Laguna Beach. After leaving his role as a Deputy Public Defender, Terry opened and operated a successful private law firm, directly impacting the lives of countless people. Terry always valued morality, ethics and respecting his fellow man above all else, and was a hardworking professional. Terry was a true expert in the field of Law, and practiced as an attorney for 50 years, until his mid 70’s when he finally retired to spend more time with his family. During his career, he developed many professional relationships and made a true impact on the law community. Terry was always a thoughtful and kind man. Back in 2007 Terry had written a beautiful note to each of our family members, to read when he had passed. One of the notes he said his greatest wish was to become a grandfather. Over a decade ago, his wish came true, as he became known as “Papa” to his grandchildren Oliver and Amber. He loved home life with his entire family, and taught his grandchildren many important lessons, and how to swim and play chess. Whether it was entertaining, teaching, or cracking lighthearted jokes, he always put the happiness of his family first. Terry loved to read history, biographies, game theory, page turners, he had them all. He played Frisbee, card games, shooting hoops, swimming laps, playing chess and backgammon. Every Sunday he would fully complete the LA Times crossword puzzle in colored ink. He loved gathering with his Nieces and Nephews, Cousins and longtime friends. Terry was grateful to God, and his faith grew in his life, always filled with a humble heart. Terry was a longtime member of St. Thomas More Catholic Community in Henderson and grew up a part of St. Anne’s Catholic church. Whether it was teaching Math for the Peace Corps or coaching his children’s sports teams, people always trusted and relied on him. Terry was always a loyal and reliable member of many organizations including the International Frisbee Association and Attorneys for Criminal Justice. Terry lived a full life and always provided his friends and family with love, comfort and joy. “We’ll Always Have Paris.” “Au Revoir, Mi Amor.” “Go gently into the night my Captain, My Captain.” If you would like to contact the family, in his honor we created an email questionauthority46@gmail.com , feel free to reach us at this address. He would always advise his friends and family to Question Authority. Rest in peace, Terry.
