Tammy Lee Damato of Peoria, AZ passed away on September 1st. 2026 at her home while in the care of her family and Hospice of the Valley following a 14-year courageous battle with Cancer. She was 63 years old. Born on August 24th. 1963 in Joliet, Illinois, Tammy joined the U.S. Army in 1986 where she met her now husband Christopher Damato in Austin, Texas while stationed at Bergstrom AFB in 1990. They deployed together to Desert Shield/Storm and both were Honorably Discharged from the Army and lived together in Stratford, Connecticut with her husband's family where they were married in 1994. Tammy and Chris moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1995. Tammy worked at Honeywell for 5 years, then did home Daycare for 7 years and finished her career as a Physical Therapy Tech with Banner Health before retiring in 2022. Tammy was a woman of remarkable strength faith and spirit and was a faithful volunteer at Copper Hills Church in Peoria, AZ. She was predeceased by her Mother Judith Pittman Mitchell, her Father John Mitchell and brother Scott Mitchell. Survivors include her husband of 32 years Christopher Damato of Peoria, Arizona, her Son Derrick Damato, 28 of Peoria, AZ. Daughter Breanna Buchanan, 25 of Peoria, AZ. and her husband Aaron Buchanan and their daughter, Annalise, 1 yr old. Her Brothers John (Mitch) Mitchell and his wife Susie, Rodney Mitchell and his wife Keri and numerous nieces and nephews who she adored. Tammy enjoyed her daily walks and being around family and friends. She would always light up a room with positivity and bring joy to everyone.
