The story of Steven
Steven (Stergios) Litras died peacefully on Saturday, June 3rd, 2023, in Mesa, AZ. He was born April 8th, 1939, in Tsotili, Greece. When he was 4 years old, he landed in the US through Ellis Island, in Brooklyn NY. Steven was baptized as one of Jehovah’s witnesses in 1953. In 1956, he went on to serve at Bethel, the world headquarters of Jehovah's Witnesses, in Brooklyn NY, for 13 years. In Bethel, he was assigned to the bindery department. Steven was a faithful servant of Jehovah, his entire life, who encouraged & uplifted everyone he touched. His talks would always include famous song lyrics that would touch many. He always had a joke to put a smile on your face. He was loved and cherished by his family & friends all around the world. Steven was a devoted, gentle, kind and loving father to his children. Steven was proud of and loved his grandchildren. He was known to them as Papou. Steven’s continued faith gave him strength right up until his end. He would often repeat “Jehovah is my God, my Father & my Friend”. Those who visited him, during his last days, left more encouraged than when they arrived. Steven is survived by his son, David Litras; his daughter, Sharon Manigault; his daughter-in law, Nicole Litras; his son-in law, James Manigault; his grandchildren, Jessica Litras, Michael Liggins, Dimitrios Litras, Nikolas Litras & Steven Liggins. Steven is also survived by his sister, Mary Katsigianis and sister-in law, Helen Litras. Steven is preceded in death by his parents, Alexander & Athena Litras; his brother, Nicholas Litras; his sisters, Helen George and Timothea Swingle. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 8th at 1:00pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 6263 E Brown Rd, Mesa AZ 85205
