The story of
Early on the morning of Monday, January 29, 2024 (even before his dogs Claudia and Brandy would have gotten him up) Steve Trickett took his last breath. That daily routine was broken by a fight that began with cancer and resulted in multiple infections his body was unable to beat. Steve was born April 12, 1953 to Joan and Joe Trickett in Drexel Hills, Pennsylvania. His growing up years were spent in Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey (beach summers) and Virginia. After High School graduation from York High School, Yorktown, VA, Steve headed to a small 2-year college in the breathtaking Adirondacks of upstate New York. It was there that his life's adventure began. Steve's passion for the outdoors and like-minded friends found him living to hunt, fish and explore! Eventually he landed in Alaska where he graduated from University of Alaska in Fairbanks and worked construction and then for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. While in Alaska, Steve also trained and hunted with his world class Brittany spaniels. Alaska was home for many years until he was compelled to be closer to aging parents. Steve moved to Missouri, not close, but at least in the lower 48 and it still offered great hunting and fishing opportunities. In Missouri, he volunteered with Boykin Spaniel Rescue, becoming a Regional Director. His love of dogs, especially seniors and rescues was very evident! In 2019 Steve moved again! This time to Florence Arizona to be close to one of his best hunting, fishing buddies! The Arizona move was the introduction to a whole new environment and way of life but surrounded by great friends and his dogs he settled in, still taking and planning for the next hunt or fishing trip! Steve is preceeded in death by his father, Joesph and his mother, Joan. He is survived by his brother David, his wife Karen and sister Dale; 4 nephews: Jay, Chris, Keith and Kyle and 1 niece: Becky and....12 grand nieces and nephews. It was Steve's desire to be cremated and his ashes scattered in Alaska. A Celebration of Life and Barbeque (Steve style) will be held at his home in Florence, AZ on Saturday 2/24/2024 @ 4:00PM If you can make it, please let us know! A donation to Boykin Spaniel Rescue would honor Steve's memory.
