Stephen Anthony Huff “Steve Huff” (1966 – 2025)
Steve passed away at his home, surrounded by family and friends on May 21, 2025 @10:16 PM, He was 58.
Born October 16, 1966 at Sea Plane Base Whidbey NAS, Oak Harbor Washington. Steve attended and graduated from South Whidbey High School.
Steve was a Brother, Uncle, Grand Uncle , Cousin, Nephew, Friend , Mentor, Acquaintance, Racer, Custom Bike Builder, Inventor, Innovator and inspiration to many people.
He is survived by his brother Thomas Huff of Oregon, His sister-in-law Kelly, Nephew Joshua, Niece Danielle, Grand Niece Autumn, Grand Nephew Daniel along with Friends and Fans across the country and around the world.
Steve’s racing career consisted of Steve setting more than 20 national and world records along with winning the APBA National Hydroplane Championship.
Steve made global headlines as the Designer, Builder and driver of the world’s first 200 mph electric dragster in 2020.
Steve received International exposure with his participation at NHRA events, Establishing himself as a Pioneer, Inventor and Innovator in electric drag racing's future.
Steve’s talents didn’t stop with racing. Throughout the years Steve designed and built many custom motorcycles.
Steve’s bikes graced covers of magazines, Turning heads across the country. Steve was once named the “Best bike builder you’ve never heard of.”
In 2020, Steve was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic upper tract urothelial cancer. Steve faced this diagnosis with the same Huff determination and grit he brought to all aspects of his life.
Despite his diagnosis, Steve called 2022 the best year of his life. That year, Steve achieved the APBA National Hydroplane Championship.
Steve also participant in NHRA Nationals events with his Electric Dragster. In Steve’s words, “in the years since my cancer diagnosis I finally became the man I always wanted to be”.
Steve’s greatest victories weren’t only in racing, Steve gave back to his community through outreach and mentoring of youth, Especially those with alternate learning styles.
Steve inspired young minds to chase their own kind of Greatness, Embrace their Unique Superpowers and be Great.
Steve didn’t just break records, Steve broke molds. Redefining what it means to live fully, Creating a legacy worth celebrating.
Steve was a long term resident of Des Moines, WA and the City of SeaTac where he lived and worked for over 20 years.
September 22nd was named the Steve Huff Motorsports Day by the City of SeaTac mayor in 2020, In honor of Steve setting the world record for the first electric dragster ever to run over 200mph.
Details for a celebration of life in his honor are still in the planning phase and will be shared as soon as all logistics are worked out.
Steve’s family is asking that donations be made to the soon to be launched Steve Huff Memorial Foundation in lieu of flowers. To help establish annual scholarships for youth. The foundation is being established to continue and carry on his Legacy.
