Obituary of Stanley O. Henderson January 11, 1959 to July 29, 2025 ● In Loving Memory of Stanley O. Henderson On January 11, 1959, in El Campo, Texas, Stanley O. Henderson was born to Ruben Henderson and Eleanor Henderson. One of nine children, Stanley grew up surrounded by the love of a large family. He graduated from Evan E. Worthing High School in 1977 and later earned an associate’s degree in technology from DeVry University in Dallas, Texas. Stanley’s curiosity and love for learning extended to language—he became fluent in Spanish, often saying he even dreamed in it. His deep appreciation for Hispanic culture was a defining part of his life. On August 14, 1982, Stanley married Helen D. White, whom he met at a prayer meeting at Pentecostal Assembly Church in Fort Worth. Together, they raised three children: Quincy Lee, Stacy Denise, and Ryan Christopher, in Houston, Texas. Though they later divorced, Stanley and Helen remained close friends and devoted co-parents. Their bond extended to Helen’s family, who became his own. In his final days, Helen stood faithfully by his side. Stanley was a joyful spirit and a “big kid at heart.” He delighted in breaking the rules for his grandchildren, whether that meant midnight movies, candy before bed, or soda for breakfast. Known for his creative nicknames, spontaneous outings, and love of Denny’s or IHOP, he was an uncle and father figure to many beyond his own children. A talented and driven professional, Stanley worked for organizations such as NASA and Xerox before running his own business in the printing industry. His skill, charisma, and gift for connecting with people took him across the United States and around the world. He proudly visited 49 states and numerous countries and continents. On a business trip to Ghana, he met and later married Ivy Apea. They welcomed their daughter, Grace Abena Nhyira, in August 2007. Though their marriage ended, Stanley and Ivy remained dedicated partners in parenting. On July 29, 2025, Stanley entered eternal rest after a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Vivian Wright and Shasta Pointer; and his brother, Ray “Charles” Henderson. His siblings’ love and support in his final days moved him deeply. Above all, Stanley’s greatest joy and pride were his children and grandchildren. Each inherited his humor, talents, and love for life; whether in kindness, storytelling, technological skill, or language. His family will continue his legacy, carrying pieces of him in every laugh, movie quote, and shared memory. In his last days, though unable to travel as he once loved to do, Stanley was surrounded by the laughter, love, and embrace of those dearest to him.
