It is with deep love and remembrance that we announce the passing of Socorro Macias, who peacefully left this world on April 9, 2026, at the age of 89.
Socorro was born on December 22, 1936, and lived a long and meaningful life rooted in family, hard work, and simple joys. She was married to her beloved husband, Raphael Macias, until his passing in September 2001. Together, they built a life centered on love and family.
For over 40 years, Socorro dedicated herself to her work at Presbyterian Health Services, where her commitment and strong work ethic touched the lives of many.
Above all, Socorro was the heart of her family. She is lovingly remembered by her five children: Yolanda, Ralph, Carol, Charlie, and Arthur. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren—Cisco, Cristy, Randy, Ronald, Desiree, Ruben, Charles, and Sabrina—as well as her 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy.
Socorro created lasting memories in the most beautiful and simple ways. Her laughter, and the unmistakable aroma of her fresh homemade French fries, made with love for anyone who walked through her door. She treasured taking her grandchildren to the Sandia Mountains, and to the park where days were spent eating sweet watermelon, playing in the open air. She also enjoyed time at the casino, and you could always tell when she had a good day—when asked if she won, she would smile and say, “just a little bit” at times she could be feisty and wanted to know all the gossip her reply to everything was” deveras”
Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and devotion to family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
