The story of
Sandra Alexandra (born Sandra Petersen) came into this world in Murray, UT, on August 13th, 1960. She was born to parents Betty and Bob Petersen and enjoyed a small-town childhood with her two brothers (Clint and Ken) and three sisters (Jan, Jill, and Robyn). Her grandchild, Weston Nielsen, described what he witnessed as her life’s true intentions: "She chose to follow her inner peace, love, and devotion to God & spirituality, rather than chasing fame, money, and pleasure. She shared kindness with everyone and always found their best qualities." All who knew her were amazed by her consistent ability to speak fondly of others, listen intently, and show compassion. Many were touched by her warm words and radiant presence. In her early years, she was affectionately nicknamed “Sweet Treat” and loved tagging along on outings with her older sisters, spending time on the farm, and dressing up to go dancing at discos. She married Kirk Nielsen, had two children (Ren Nielsen and Bridget Nielsen), and lived a family-oriented life filled with vacations and travel, watching her son play sports and her daughter dance and paint. She helped run successful businesses alongside her husband and was an incredibly talented interior designer for decades. She always had a keen eye for fashion and art. She enjoyed shopping and coffee runs in her free time, and loved going to movies and dinners with friends and family. Her later years were spent going on nature walks among the trees, admiring the beauty of flowers in vibrant gardens, and spending time with her children. She loved precious hours spent with her grandchild and would plan sleep-overs and activities to do with him. When she wasn't helping customers through interior design or retail work, she assisted others with her healing practice, bodywork to soothe traumas, and spiritual work to open new possibilities beyond limiting beliefs. Her final months were spent battling aggressive colon and liver cancer, to which she succumbed on November 12th, 2025. In the final months of her life, she never stopped showing gratitude and appreciation for life. She kept her humor and ability to make jokes even in her final days. She believed in living in the moment and being passionate about each and every day. She passed away surrounded by family, taking her final breath holding the hands of her daughter and an angelic hospice nurse. She is survived by a son, daughter, and grandchild and leaves a lasting legacy of positivity, love, and enjoyment of life’s simplest gifts.
