The story of
Rue’s Story Ruth “Rue” Julianna Edeltraud Koolis, was born May 2, 1971 to Ruth J. and Robert S. Koolis in Tacoma, Washington at Madigan Hospital on McChord Air Force Base. Rue was one of seven children, four rambunctious brothers and two sisters who were all very active and athletic and she wanted to be just like them. Rue excelled at softball, volleyball, bowling, and many other activities as a teenager. As a young adult, Rue earned her cosmetology license from beauty school. She sported many different hair styles and colors and was envied by many friends. Rue was married at the age of 24 and a few years later, her daughter Hunter Rianne was born….the light of her life. Rue and Hunter were inseparable. In 2004, Rue started her career at the Spanaway Albertsons Starbucks Kiosk as a Barista, which was her calling. It made her so happy that she could brighten someone's day with just a cup of coffee. Her career spanned over 19 years starting at the Spanaway store, after a number of years she transferred to the Canyon store. When she moved to Kingston in 2020, she continued her career at the Safeway's Starbucks kiosk. A little over two years ago, she moved in with her boyfriend, Lee, and continued her career in a Beaverton Safeways Starbucks Kiosk. In Beaverton she learned how to golf, play pool, and truly enjoyed going out with friends for game nights and karaoke. She truly enjoyed baking and making new friends while living in Oregon and also maintaining many friendships all over the country. She loved to make people laugh and smile with her beautiful personality. Our beautiful Rue received her official angel wings on October, 25th 2023. Rue was preceded in death by her niece Michelle, grandnephew Anthony Ramon, her sister Kaye Kaye, her mother Ruth J. Newell, and father Robert S. Koolis. Surviving family members include bonus dad Bill Newell, daughter Hunter (Dustin), and granddaughter Eliott, and survived by her faithful dog, Beagle, brother Pete Koolis(Cheryl), brother Steve Koolis(Julie), sister Karen Chambers(Jeff), Bobby(Stephanie), brother Jimmy Koolis, six nephews, six nieces, five grand nephews and six grand nieces. A Celebration of Life will be held in Tigard, Oregon, at the Oregon State Bar Assn. on November 18, 2023 at 2 pm. A second Celebration of Life for family and friends in Tacoma will be held on March 30, 2024 at a location to be determined later.
