The story of
Early in the morning of March 7, 2026, Rodney (“Rod”) Allen Wallace, aged 83, left us to be with the Lord. Rod was born to Jesse and Florence Wallace on July 3, 1942, at their home in Los Angeles, California. Rod graduated from Lakewood High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was detached to the National Security Agency, where he trained in cryptology and electronics. Rod served in southeast Asia during the Viet Nam War, as well as in Europe and the Middle East during the Cold War. He received three Purple Hearts, two Silver Stars, and a Bronze Star during his service. After leaving the Air Force, Rod attended the University of Texas Austin, graduating with dual degrees in Industrial Engineering and Business. His career spanned from research and development of weaponry systems for the federal government to manufacturing in the private sector, as well as frequently working on dairy farms owned by his parents. Rod and Bobbie married were married in Huntsville, Alabama on October 21, 1987. In his retirement, Rod enjoyed home improvement and woodworking. Rod is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Florence, his brothers Jimmy and Don, and his sister Faye. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie; his son Chris (wife Ronda); and his brother Myron. He was extremely proud of his only grandchild, Chloe. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law Jim Taschner (Faye), Jack Elliott (wife Ginger), and Joe Elliott (wife Teresa); his stepchildren Anni Mezzofante and Jessie Gollihugh; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews. It was Rod’s desire that his ashes be commingled with Bobbie’s and scattered together. Rod was fiercely patriotic and requested that donations be made to Tunnel to Towers (“t2t.org”), which provides mortgage-free homes for Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children, adaptive homes for injured veterans and first responders, and villages for homeless veterans.
