The story of
Robert (Bob) Kenneth Kirkley Sr. (74) of Vail, AZ passed away at his home with family by his side. He was born in Ironwood, MI to Kenneth Kirkley and Elenor DeMeio. He graduated from Luther L. Wright school. He was proud to serve in the United States Army from 1968-1971. He was a Veteran of the 173rd Airborne Brigade “Sky Soldiers” and served a tour in Vietnam from 1969-1970. He was married to Jolene for 26 years. Bob enjoyed flint-knapping and making peace pipes and was a great cook. He is survived by his wife Jolene, son Robert Jr. (Christy); 5 grandchildren, Amber (Matthew) Pender, Allyssa DeHaan (Jesse Stuesser), and Dylan (Kelli) Kirkley; 7 great grandchildren, Jamie Pender, Lilly Pender, Finley Pender, Carson DeHaan, Mila DeHaan, Max Stuesser, and Adeline Aho; 3 brothers, Lawrence Kirkley, Thomas Kirkley, and Renny Anderson; 2 sisters, Sharon (Jim) Foley, and Terry (Ron) Nelson. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, son Kevin George Kirkley, and sister Doreen Simmons. An interment service will be held on December 16, 2025 at 1100 at the Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery at Marana. A sincere thank you to Gentiva Hospice and Right at Home for all the care they provided.
