Robert Dale Hilton, 81, of Weatherford, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Robert was born on October 16, 1944, in Decatur, Texas, to Walter Winfred Hilton and Maudie Paralee Hilton.
Robert lived a full and remarkable life marked by strength, hard work, faith, and deep love for his family. He spent most of his life as a truck driver and electrician, dedicating
himself to providing for those he loved. After retirement, he continued doing what came naturally to him — creating and fixing things with his hands — becoming a skilled luthier and enjoying his time as a DJ, sharing his love of music with others.
Robert was a man who could seemingly do anything. He was intelligent, fearless, resourceful, and dependable. He loved hunting, playing music, and fixing anything that could be repaired. More than anything, he valued family and took pride in being a provider and protector. To those who knew him, Robert was a strong and stand-up man whose presence brought security and strength.
He is survived by the love of his life and devoted companion of 45 years, Ronda J. Hilton, the mother of his children, who remained faithfully by his side until the very end; his children, James A. Hilton (“Jimmy”) and Chelsey J. Hilton Gee; his cherished grandchildren, Ashton Hilton, La’Shea Willis, and Ka’Lia Sheffield; and his dearest best friend, Chris Miller, whose friendship meant so much to him throughout the years.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Winfred Hilton and Maudie Paralee Hilton; his sisters, Mary and Opal; and his brothers, Jack, Donald, Ralph, Leon, and Paul Hilton.
Robert believed deeply in God and in the saving grace of Jesus Christ. He believed that Jesus died on the cross so that our sins could be forgiven, and toward the end of his life
he found peace and comfort in knowing he was going home to Heaven. Even in his final days, Robert remained strong in spirit and sound of mind. He lived life fully, on his own
terms, with courage and determination until the very end.
Though his family grieves his absence deeply, they also celebrate the incredible life he lived, the lessons he taught, and the love he leaves behind. His strength, wisdom,
humor, and unwavering presence will never be forgotten.
