Captain Robert Cadriel German, Promotable [Major], U.S. Army (Ret.), of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on August 16, 2026, in Phoenix, Arizona. Born on October 6, 1952, to Manuel and Martha German in Phoenix, Arizona, he attended North Phoenix High School before answering the call to serve his country. Robert proudly served in the U.S. Army and the Arizona National Guard for 24+ years, and achieved the final rank of Captain Promotable (Major). Robert received many commendations and awards, including the National Defense Service Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Component Overseas Training Ribbon, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Arizona Merit Award Officer, just to name a few. Robert is survived by his children, Roberta Markowski and Michael Paul German; seven grandchildren, Adrian, David, Dominic, Tony, Delilah, Naveah, Julien; two great-grandchildren, Hailee, Brynlee; and his siblings, Ruth Ramirez, Ruben German, and Rebecca Myers. He was preceded in death by his son, Hiram German, and both his parents, Martha & Manuel German. A service with military honors will be held on September 4, 2026, at 10 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 2929 E. Pinnacle Peak Rd., Phoenix, Arizona 85024.
