The story of
“Randy” Richard Randall Ball January 8, 1958 – November 24, 2025 Randy Ball, beloved brother, partner, uncle, and friend, passed into glory on November 24, 2025, in Bakersfield, California, at the age of 67. Born on January 8, 1958, in San Jose, California, Randy was the oldest child of Harry Junior “JR” Ball and Marilynn Jane Francis Ball. He grew up with a strong sense of responsibility and love for his family, becoming the protective older brother to Lynna Eskew, Robert Ball, and Lori Robinson, and later a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. Randy shared his life with his longtime partner, Christine Conkling, who remained faithfully by his side. He was a loving father figure to her sons, Brandon and Justin Conkling, and treasured the family they built together. A hardworking and dedicated man, Randy spent decades employed in the produce department at Ralphs, where he was known for his strong work ethic, routinely clocking more than 60 hours a week. Outside of work, he was a true enthusiast—especially for his Camaros, which he took great pride in. He also loved Star Wars, Star Trek, and cheered passionately for his favorite teams: the Dodgers, Angels, and Lakers. Above all, Randy loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His faith guided him throughout his life and brought him comfort as he prepared to pass from this world. In his final moments, he spoke the name of Jesus repeatedly, holding fast to his belief and finding peace in the promises of Scripture. Randy loved singing hymns, and the words of Psalm 23 were a profound comfort to him. Randy will be deeply missed by his family, friends, coworkers, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a testimony of devotion—to his faith, his family, his work, and the joys that made him who he was. May he rest in the eternal arms of his Savior.
