The story of
Rebecca "Becky" Rae Shearer, 65, of Tusayan, Arizona passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 23, 2023, surrounded by loved ones after a very short illness. Becky grew up in Duluth, Minnesota. She moved to Tusayan, AZ with her cousin in 1977 and, after a rough start, was getting ready to call her dad to come down and bring her "home" when she met the love of her life, Pete. After that, Northern AZ quickly became her new home. Pete and Becky were married 45 years and are staples of Tusayan. They have both made an incredible impact on the community, ultimately becoming the first mayor and first lady of Tusayan. Likewise, the community and their many friends also made an incredible impact on her. Becky and Pete started building their cabin in 1982 and it was Becky's favorite place on earth though, 41 years later, Becky would have said it's still not quite finished. Her grandchildren were some of the brightest lights in her life. Becky lived life to the fullest, exploring the world and the United States, pouring into her grandchildren, and despite not being able to enjoy her imminent retirement, she has left an indelible mark on many lives.. Becky was preceded in death by her parents, John "Jack" and Joyce Myre and brothers T.J. and Kenneth. She is survived by her husband, Chalmer "Pete"; brother, Scott; son, Canyon (Tina); daughter, Cayla (Colin); grandsons Jacob, Titus, Ezra, Calvin, and Ryle; and granddaughters Bonnie, Emma, Anastasia, and Abigail. A celebration of life will be scheduled for 2024 in Northern Arizona. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity that will help you remember Becky or reach out to Becky's daughter, Cayla, if you would like to assist with medical bills. Becky is dearly missed. She loved well and was well loved.
