IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ralph Wayne Lamoreaux
September 3, 1944 – January 11, 2026
Sun Lakes, Arizona
Ralph Wayne Lamoreaux—beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and faithful friend—passed away on January 11, 2026, in Gilbert, Arizona, surrounded by his wife, children, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He left this world the same way he lived in it—wrapped in family, steady love, and the quiet warmth of being deeply known.
Ralph was born on September 3, 1944, in Cedar City, Utah, to Ralph C. and Jean Perry Lamoreaux. He grew up in Cedar City and carried a lifelong love of southern Utah with him, making sure his family knew exactly which red rocks, scenic drives, and hidden gems were “the good ones.”
After graduating from high school in 1962, Ralph attended the College of Southern Utah, earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He married the love of his life, Jean Marie Misel, on August 6, 1965. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden Temple in 1972, reflecting the deep faith and devotion that anchored their life together.
In 1966, Ralph and Jean moved to Salt Lake City so Ralph could attend the University of Utah (Go Utes!), where he earned his MBA in 1967 and passed the CPA exam on his first try. He was hired by the General Accounting Office and, in 1973, accepted a promotion that took the family to Washington, D.C., beginning a long, steady career in government service.
Ralph and Jean welcomed their first child, Kirk Wayne, in 1967 while in Salt Lake City. Tori Lee joined the family in 1969 in Ogden, Utah. Stephanie Ann and Marci-Marie were born in 1974 and 1978 while the family was living in the Washington, D.C. area. Ralph was a devoted and constant father—present, dependable, and always proud of his children.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ralph served in many callings over the years, including bishopric counselor, executive secretary, High Council member, and Elders Quorum president. His favorite calling was finance clerk—a role that fit him perfectly. He served quietly, faithfully, and with genuine love.
Before retirement, Ralph was an avid tennis player. After 30 years with the government, he retired at 55 and moved with Jean to Sun Lakes, Arizona, where he traded his tennis racket for golf clubs and embraced a new rhythm of life. He loved the game, the friendships, and the sunshine, but more than anything, he cherished time with family. He was an amazing husband, a devoted father, a proud grandfather to nine, and a delighted great-grandfather to three.
Ralph had a gentle, understated sense of humor that revealed itself in perfectly timed comments, subtle looks, and observations that could catch you off guard—sometimes a little inappropriate, always unforgettable. He loved teasing his grandchildren and had a way of making people laugh without ever needing the spotlight. His humor was part of how he loved.
Even as Lewy body dementia gradually changed parts of his world, it never took that part of him. He continued to smile, tease, and deliver unexpected lines right up to the end. His family will forever cherish the way his laughter and wit stayed close, reminding them of who he was at his core.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Jean; his son, Kirk; his daughters, Tori, Stephanie (Brent), and Marci (Joe); and his brothers, Dean and Kim. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Ryan Rupa (Cameryn), Tyson Rupa (Brooklynne), Hayley (Foster) Eberhard, Blake Foster, Grant Coombs, Chloe Foster, Carson Coombs, Kate Foster, and London Coombs; and three great-granddaughters: Rosie, Coco, and Ivy Rupa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph C. and Jean Perry Lamoreaux; his sister, Peggy Lee; and his brother, Ronnie.
Ralph’s life was one of quiet strength, deep faith, steady love, and well-placed humor. His influence will continue in the family he built, the lives he shaped, and the countless ordinary moments that now carry extraordinary meaning.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
