Perry was born February 14th 1944. Both his father and his grandfather were named Perry, but he never liked the III (three) behind his name so he declined to use it if he could. It always seemed a bit presumptive to him, an unnecessary appendage. Unfortunately it was legally necessary. Perry was the middle member of three children. He had two sisters. His older sister, Katherine lived in Mexico and died there in 2015 after having lived there for 25 years. His younger sister, Victoria Keen, lives in Niwot, Colorado. Perry grew up in Pueblo, Colorado and attended school there. Upon graduation from high school, he attended Colorado College in Colorado Springs, graduating in 1966 with a degree in philosophy. At the height of the Vietnam War in 1967, Perry was drafted; a scary time to be sure. His army training did not included Vietnam, but instead was centered around US Army Information School in Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. Perry considered himself extremely lucky! After serving his country, Perry worked in Pueblo for a while and was employed by a business that did steel construction and by another company building residential housing in Colorado Springs. After traveling all over Mexico, Perry worked for Associados en Agua Potable y Ingeneria Sanitaria (or "CREO," which means "I Believe" in Spanish) in Chiapias, Mexico. CREO is a charity organization that builds potable water systems for the indigenous Mayan people. He worked there for three years. This experience helped Perry to become a carpenter/contractor in Littleton, Colorado, which he did until he retired at 67. In 1982 Perry met a lovely lady in a laundromat in Englewood, Colorado. That lovely lady, Vicki Tosher, became his wife. A nice chapter ensued with some wonderful adventures. They traveled to Europe and Turkey, and had many trips visiting family in North Carolina, Idaho and New York as well as excursions to the Colorado mountains for fishing and hiking. Perry was an avid fly fisherman and spent many days on Colorado rivers frequently accompanied by Vicki. She would often pack her flower press and add Colorado wildflowers to her collection. Perry always considered himself extremely lucky to have met Vicki. They were together 38 years until her death in 2020. Perry is survived by his sister, Victoria Keen, a niece, Rebecca Kelada, a grand niece, Nettie Kelada and a grand nephew, Peter Kelada. Cousins are scattered from Colorado to Canada. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to the National Breast Cancer Coalition, Colorado Cancer Coalition, and Sense of Security, the non-profit for breast cancer patients founded by Perry's wife, Vicki Tosher. These non-profits were dear to Vicki's heart and thus to Perry's as well!
