“The mountains are calling and I must go.” — John Muir
Patty Tomasiello, known to her family as Sissy and to her grandson as Gooka, passed away peacefully under a full moon on October 6, 2025 in her home in her daughter’s arms. She is now at peace welcomed home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
If you were Patty’s friend you were one of her best friends. Patty was the person who always answered the phone, sent a card or reached out with a sweet and funny text. Patty always printed photos and mailed carefully selected birthday cards. She could not wait to take you on a lunch date in Boulder City. She introduced you to your now lifelong addiction to pizzelle cookies at Christmas and turned you into an eggplant parmesan lover. To be her friend was to be given a cute nickname and to laugh with her on the phone for hours.
Sissy was the most loving daughter, sister, aunt and cousin. She was the big sister to all and the mother many people didn’t have. Her home was always open, comfortable, and supportive. Sissy could not stay mad for long, loved a goofy joke, and would always swing by to drop something thoughtful off. She showed up for her family in every way that mattered. The world would be a better place if every family had a Sissy.
Being a Gooka was one of her greatest loves. She was an incredible mother and the most magical Gooka. She was loving and present in his life every day, helping to raise the kind and loving human he is. Gooka was made of little and big adventures, exploring shops in strip malls, clay battles and holding Mio close while showing him how to make her famous sauce. A Gooka loved bedtime stories and one too many cups of hot cocoa. Gooka got up to make breakfast even on her most
difficult days. Her Mio was her everything and being his grandma was the greatest gift either one of us could have been given.
She was beautiful, loving, and deeply kind, living as a quiet example of what it means to be a good human. She loved nature and her spirit belonged to the mountains, the giant trees and steady sweet treats.
According to her wishes, a celebration of life will be held at a later date and will be announced to
family and friends.
