The story of
Oscar Ybarra Blanco October 1955 – June 19, 2025 With profound love and deep sorrow, we announce that Oscar Ybarra Blanco, age 69, departed this life and ascended into the loving arms of his Savior on June 19, 2025. Born and raised in South Phoenix, Arizona, Oscar lived a life defined by strength, devotion, and unwavering faith. He attended Grand Canyon University and built a long and meaningful career as a civil engineer for the City of Tempe, Arizona and later served as a Water Treatment Specialist in Lake Havasu, AZ and Clark County, NV. His work reflected his heart for service and his dedication to the well-being of others. Oscar was a man of simple yet profound joys. He loved working out, eating clean, and sipping his coffee “John Wayne style”—strong, straightforward, the way he lived his life. More than anything, he cherished time spent with his beloved children and grandchildren. His love for family was the core of who he was, and his gentle strength, warm smile, and words of encouragement left a lasting impact on all who knew him. We will always remember his funny sayings and nicknames he had for the people he loved. A devoted Christian, Oscar carried his faith quietly but firmly, living by example with grace, humility, and a servant’s heart. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Irene and Christopher Blanco, eight brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his two daughters, Stephany Blanco and Kristin Melendez; his brothers, Ruben Blanco and Paul Blanco; and a large circle of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly but rejoice in the knowledge that he is now at peace and no longer in pain. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the gift of his life and the beautiful memories he leaves behind. “If we died with Christ, we shall live with Christ. If we endure, we shall rein with Christ, but [if] we deny Christ, we are faithless and lost.” 2 Timothy 11-13
