The story of
Noreen Calvin passed away peacefully on October 8, 2024. She is survived by her three daughters Deborah, Sandy (Don-deceased), Cheryl and her grandchildren Bret (Lyssa) and Kristy. She retired from Metro Health Medical Center where she worked for many doctors specializing in high-risk OB. She enjoyed the work she did at Metro and the many friendships she made there. She was proud of her daughter’s accomplishments and was quick to share them with others, but most of all she cherished her grandchildren and the time she was able to spend with them. Anyone who met her loved her quick wit and the stories she would share. She was a lifelong learner who could tell you everything about ancient Egypt, WWII history and, of course, music. She sang in the choir, played piano and guitar and enjoyed attending a wide variety of live music ranging from opera to rock concerts, especially Deep Purple. What she enjoyed most, though, was going out to see her daughter Cheryl perform with her band and they loved seeing her “glowing smile” in the audience. She very much enjoyed playing games with the family, especially our competitive pinochle tournaments and loved telling others about her cats and hearing about theirs. Even through her final stages of illness she was kind to others, always found humor and was grateful for the good things and people she had in her life. She was loved and will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers please give to your local animal shelter (she loved her rescue babies).
