The story of
Beloved sister, daughter, and aunt, Nicole Shapiro passed away peacefully on July 3 at the compassionate Rowan Community in south Denver, Colorado. Born on April 21, 1978, in San Mateo, California, Nicole was the second daughter of Joel and Terry Shapiro. A significant moment in Nicole's young life was her cherished dream trip to London, made possible after her courageous childhood battle with brain cancer, supported by the dedicated team at Children's Hospital in Los Angeles. While the long-term effects of her treatment eventually presented severe health challenges, Nicole embraced many fulfilling years in Texas and Colorado. She enjoyed speaking of her favorite restaurants and loved Red Lobster. She found joy in scrapbooking, sharing an artistic spirit with her mother and sisters. She held a deep affection for 80s music, John Cusack movies, her generously creamed coffee, and her unwavering faith in Jesus as her Savior. Nicole is lovingly remembered by her mother Theresa, and her siblings Jennifer, Ben, Chava, and Sam, along with their families. She often expressed deep love and care for her many nephews and nieces, who held a special place in her heart. Nicole was preceded in death by her father, Joel Shapiro. The family invites you to celebrate Nicole's life by considering a contribution to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (link below), and by acknowledging the heroic and kind staff and residents at Rowan Community, who provided exceptional care, compassion, and friendship to Nicole. Nicole, may you now enjoy the heavenly banquet prepared for you by your Savior. "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me."
