Michael James Marshall, age 72, of Glendale, AZ, passed away on May 14, 2024. He was born on June 12, 1951, in Fort Riley, Kansas. Born 1 of 8 children to Joseph and Thelma Marshall. Early on in his life he relocated with his family to Tacoma,Washington where he spent a majority of his life. Michael graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma, class of 1970’.
Michael worked as a Washington State Patrol for a short time. He worked with the Seattle Times as well and finally ended up retiring from Puyallup Sound Transit where he worked as security at the train station. Before eventually making the trip to move to Arizona in 2015 where 2 of his 3 daughters reside.
Known to many as "Big Mike," he was a loving father, very charismatic, overall happy fellow. He enjoyed playing his hand at dominos and a stiff drink on occasion.
Michael lived to be 72 years old, a month shy of 73 and it's safe to say he is now in a better place. Michael was not just loved by family but he had a way about him that even close neighbors around him became like family having each other's back up until the end.
Michael was twice married leaving behind 3 adult children; Emily Ann Claxton-Marshall (44), Tiffany Kathleen Hardaway (39), and his favorite youngest daughter ;) Nichole Michelle Marshall (37).
Michael also had 4 beloved grandchildren; Isaiah Amore Lawrence Claxton (25), Malachi Demetrius Claxton (20), Danah Rashad Hardaway (10), and Zayah Helen Pacheco Marshall (7).
A memorial service will be held online in June (Michael’s birthday month) for all who want to attend please reach out to daughter Nichole or Tiffany for details. We plan to spread his ashes at a location TBD in the near future. The family is currently scouting out a beautiful water location and taking our time with this process as we mourn the loss.
We all have a limited time here. Michael became very tired in his last few years and was ready for the journey above. Nevertheless he will be dearly missed today and forever and may his memory live on through his children and through the stories we all share.
For those who wish to offer their condolences, contributions can be made by sending flowers or financial donations via his youngest daughter Nichole Marshall's CashApp @NicholeMars
