The story of
Maurice (Morrie) Meschke, 1931 - 2025 Morrie was a kind and generous man who most loved spending time with his family and friends. He had a knack for story telling and bringing comfort, joy and laughter to everyone who crossed his path. Morrie Meschke, 94, of Mesa, AZ, died peacefully on December 26, 2025, of complications from Parkinson’s Disease. The youngest of two sons to Erwin and Margaret (Bundy) Meschke, he was born April 24, 1931, in Owatonna, MN. He graduated from Owatonna High School in 1950 and joined the Army from 1951-1954, serving in Korea. He worked in the printing department of Jostens during high school and continued to work there after his service career ended. He was employed by Jostens for 32 years and then self employed fixing electronics and building nearly 300 HDTV antennas. Morrie married the love of his life, Marian Tonjes in 1955. They were inseparable until her death from dementia in 2017. Together they built their lives and family in Owatonna, MN. Their three children: Michael (Karen) Meschke, Michele (Craig Seydel) Fish, and Marci (Marty) Dimas meant the world to them, and he worked hard to make sure they were taken care of and felt loved every day. Though he enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, fishing, reading and gardening, he treasured time spent with his five grandkids: Francis (Quyen) Le, Joe Le, Stephanie (Jay Singh) Le, Melissa (Jason) Meschke-Smith, and Monica (Cody) Roth. He provided a caring wink to the grandkids when they were in trouble so they knew everything would be okay, and he was a gentleman who opened doors for others. They all agree, “he was the sweetest man we’ve ever known”. He was also a proud great-grandpa to Mason and Lucas Le and Mikaela Roth. Morrie was an active member of First Baptist Church in Owatonna, serving as an usher, greeter and committee member before moving to Mesa, AZ in 2006 and finding a new church community at Velda Rose United Methodist Church. He was a faithful worshiper throughout his life. Morrie will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, hugs and winks. He was always willing to fix a radio or TV, mow a lawn, hook up an antenna, or provide any support that was needed. He was an amazing friend to so many and loved his morning coffee sharing stories and laughter with his friends. He was the best dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa; we will miss him every day! He was met with open arms by his mother, father, brother (Allen) and loving wife of 62 years. There will be no services or funeral.
