The story of Marlene
In memory of Marlene Marie Stokes Born June 16, 1937, Died September 27, 2022 Marlene is survived by her 9 children; David Chovanec, Thomas Chovanec, Cheryl Shira, Glenn Chovanec, Dale Fredrick Jr., Earl Fredrick, Mark Fredrick, Tamera Turner, and Kyle Fredrick. Also her 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Dale Fredrick Sr., and Her parents Walter and Mable Forsythe. Marlene was born in Marshalltown Iowa and grew up on a farm and went to a country school in a one-room schoolhouse. She remembered her mother having baby chicks dyed different colors and bringing them to her to play with. When she was in middle school, her parents moved them to OakLawn Illinois. Marlene was a member of the first graduating class of OakLawn High School. She was very musically gifted and enjoyed singing, and playing the piano, or the organ. She was usually in the church choir. She was the church pianist and organist for a time as well. She belonged to the living Christmas tree and had a solo of O’ Holy Night on television. She had many voice, piano, and organ students and one of her students won first in the state in piano. She loved to paint ceramics and gave several pieces she had done, away as gifts. She had a great love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and could often be seen highlighting or marking in her scriptures as she read them. There will be no funeral at this time. Please contact her daughter Tamera Turner with any questions etc. 402-363-1472. May God bless you and keep you, til we meet again at Jesus’ feet.
