Mark’s journey on this earth was marked by kindness, wisdom, a quick wit and an unwavering dedication to those he loved. Born on 1/31/1951 in Washington DC , Mark quickly became known for his contagious laughter and insatiable sense of humor. A loyal American Mark volunteered to enlist in the Army. Mark’s intelligence led him to cypher coding in Korea among other places during the Vietnam War. Mark was also present when the barracks were attacked and partially destroyed in Germany. Upon becoming a civilian Mark joined the police force and served his community in Montgomery County Maryland for eleven years. Mark was more than his achievements, however. He was a devoted husband, a cherished brother, father and grandfather. Whether through his heartfelt conversations, his acts of quiet generosity, or his ability to make anyone feel at home, Mark left an indelible impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. A lover of reading, Mark found joy in the simple pleasures of life, be it sharing a meal, exploring nature, or riding his motorcycle. His presence made you feel safe and loved. Mark is survived by his wife Elizabeth A Willard and brothers and sisters Jack Willard, Melvin Willard, Denise Willard, Sarah Willard Draughon, Jeannie Willard Davis. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to wounded warriors, ensuring that his spirit of giving continues. Mark Willard’s memory will forever be etched in our hearts. Though he is no longer with us in body, his love, lessons, and laughter will endure in the lives of all who knew him.
