Maria Gomez, a wonderful woman full of life and happiness, passed away on May 4th, 2025 after a short battle with lung cancer. Born in Navasota, Texas, on May 3, 1953, her family moved her to Phoenix, Arizona not long after to start a new life and better opportunity. A fiercely independent woman, she did as she wanted to do, and never let life get her down. She worked hard and lived just as joyfully, with a love for purses, shopping, and dancing to Tejano music, with a positive attitude. She lived with a giving and kind heart, helping where she could and helping her siblings if they needed her help and doing what she could to ease their stress when she could. She is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel Gomez and Ramona Barajas, and her siblings, Valentin Gomez and Micaela Herb, and survived by her sons, Carlos Barajas and Daniel Gomez-Kirk, as well as her siblings, Paula, Delfina, Lucia, Joe, and Matilda and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be deeply remembered and missed, but will always be remembered with a smile on her face and laughter in her heart.
