Leonard passed away on Mar 29th in Canby Oregon. Leonard and Carol had just sold their home in Arizona and moved permanently to Canby. Leonard was storing things in the garage attic when the ladder slipped causing a fall that resulted in massive brain injury.
Leonard was born to Larry and Doris Ward in Jackson Wyoming on Aug 30th 1941. He had 2 siblings. Judie Dale of Edina, MN and Lloyd Ward of Colville, WA.
His family lived most of his childhood in Jackson. He was proud to be part of a family that were some of the first settlers in Jackson Hole
Leonard left behind his wife of 64 years Carol. They were highscool sweethearts. and married a year after graduating. Carol moved to Portland right after graduation and Leonard followed her there. They were married in Portland and lived there until 1966 when they moved to Billings Montana. Leonard and Carol had 5 children. Lorena Dreyer of Hillsboro OR, Loren Ward of Big Fork MT, Brian Ward of Columbia Falls MT, Brent Ward who died in infancy, and Brenda Loftis of Beaverton OR. Leonard and Carol raised their family in Billings.
Leonard dearly loved his children who gave him 8 beautiful grandchildren. Becky Mota, Heather Filia, Logan Ward, Keevin Ward, Emily Sakahara, Adam Sakahara, Jackson Loftis and Jonah Loftis. These grandchildren gave him 7 precious great grandchildren.
Leonard spent his younger adult years in the insurance business. In 1966 he was promoted to General Agent for Penn Mutual which is why he moved back to,as Leonard would say, God’s country. During this time he had offices in MT and WY. This brought him to one of his great passions, becoming a pilot. He loved flying.
At age 50 he began a new career as a distributor for the Juice Plus Co. This is a multi-level marketing company. He was still actively working at the time of his death. He rose to the highest levels of achievement in the company building a network not only in the US but in several other countries. He had very close ties to Canada and Norway. He considered every person in his downline a a friend and family. Because of these ties Leonard and Carol were able to travel a good part of the world. Len had many interests in his life. Being a pilot, hunting, fishing, skiing and golf. Carol’s favorite saying was there was never a dull moment in their life together.
Leonard’s ashes will be scattered by his family in WY, MT and his favorite fishing spot on the Columbia river.
We miss you dear. But we know your in a better place visiting your heart out with all who have gone before
