Lawrence Stanley Freligh, better known to his family and friends as Larry, was born October 17th, 1957, in the city of Long Beach, California. He peacefully left to be with our Lord on April 26, 2025, at the age of 67, in Palm Springs, California. With his daughters by his side, he managed to ignite smiles and laughs from hospital staff up until he left us.
Predeceased by his parents, Lawrence E. Freligh and Constance B. Freligh, Larry is survived by his two sisters, Cathy Harney and Judy Freligh, who cherished him dearly. Leaving behind his three beloved daughters, Elyssa Bumcrot, Katie Coopman, and Cassandra Freligh, whom he shared with his late ex-wife, Leslie; as well as his niece Nicole Capp, in whom he loved just as his own. Larry is also survived by extended family he loved and cherished deeply. Larry's pride in his daughters was boundless, and he instilled in them his love for music, gifting them with the ability to find joy and solace in any melody.
A natural-born salesman, Larry had a knack for selling cars, specifically exotic cars; though he could sell just about anything to anyone. Larry also had the ability to create laughter in just about everyone with his wittiness and direct sense of humor.
Larry found solace in the ocean waters, specifically Dana Point, California, where he spent a majority of his years. His love for boating, delicious food, fishing, golfing and being outside enjoying sunshine was as steadfast as his love for music and singing. He carried a tune with a voice that one could never forget and played the drums at full capacity, whether it be on a drum set or on his own lap. Larry utilized music for self-expression, and all who knew and loved him could recognize that. Despite his talent, he remained humble, preferring to share his gift quietly with those closest to him.
In accordance with Larry's wishes, there will be no formal service. Instead, his ashes will be gently spread by his family along the coast, with the utmost love and respect, where the waves can carry him eternally. This is where he wished to rest and return to; the vast and open beauty of the sea, a place he always found serenity, joy, and ultimate peace.
As we remember Larry, we find comfort in the words of Isaiah 54:10: “‘For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,’ says the Lord, who has compassion on you.” And from Revelation 21:4, “we hold onto the promise that ‘He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.’”
Larry's laugh, sense of humor, boundless love, and the incredible voice he shared with us will forever echo in our hearts, a testament to a life and a spirit that will never fade.
