On May 5, 2023 Lawrence (Larry) Robert Gloss passed away in his sleep after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born to Dr. Kenneth E and Clara Gloss on October 31, 1948 in Colorado Springs, Larry is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Kenneth Gloss and Frederick Gloss. He is survived by his wife, Mary Underwood, sister Kathryn Anderson, brother Peter (Kathy) Stender, son Alexander Glosenberg, daughter Carolyn (Kevin) White, grandsons Oliver and Ander White, and his dog Rosie.
Growing up, Larry spent his summers riding horses, bailing hay, and tending to his family’s ranch in the Tarryall Valley outside of Lake George. Larry was also an avid athlete and played ice hockey in high school. After graduating from DU, Larry joined the United States Peace Corps where he served multiple terms of service - helping indigenous pastoralists in Colombia and Peru. These were defining years for Larry that spurred a life of service to others. Upon returning to the U.S., he helped to raise funds for multiple nonprofits before starting his own philanthropic consulting firm, 'Gloss & Company' where he helped to sustain hundreds of nonprofit organizations over many years. Larry was also a long-time member of the Rotary Club of Denver. Beyond his heartfelt service to, and deep love for, his family, friends, country, and humanity, Larry will be remembered for his unending good nature and playful sense of humor.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 1st at 10:00 a.m. at the Ruth Memorial Chapel, 19650 Mainstreet in Parker, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the United States Peace Corp, Rotary Foundation, or Alzheimer's Association.
