With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Krista Hammell who left this world too soon on September 1, 2023 at 29 years old. Born on May 25, 1994, the early departure of this beautiful soul has left a permanent void in the hearts of her loved ones and friends. Krista had an infectious personality that embraced each day with an adventurous spirit, and determination. She was independent, kind, and hilariously stubborn. Her laugh was contagious and could light up even the darkest rooms. She was fearlessly herself and reminded others to step out of their comfort zones and find happiness in every moment by living life to the fullest. Her light touched everyone who knew her. Krista's life was also characterized by her love of learning and her drive to better herself. After graduating high school early, she immediately entered Lincoln College of Technology, earning numerous academic achievement awards. She had a thirst for knowledge and continued to pursue her education in design-based repair after moving to Montana in 2016. After making the bold move to Montana, she purchased her first home, proving once again her determined and fearless spirit. Krista sought to teach us all valuable lessons on how to love unconditionally, appreciate and respect nature and all living creatures. She loved animals and was always bringing new ones home! Both domestic and wild like her raccoon, Ricky. She showed us how to embrace every minute with a sense of adventure and fun. Her admirable and adventurous spirit led her to explore and travel, living out more in her short time here than most people do in their entire lives. It is hard to find an adult picture of her without a gorgeous background in it! Krista is survived by her loving mother, Robin Lee; her adoring father, Clint Hammell; her supportive brothers, Tyler Salmen and Kyle Davis; her cherished nephew, Keegan Salmen; her adoring great grandmother, Mitzi Feeney; cherished grandparents Vicki and Terry Gordon and Joyce and Micky Hammell; and her adventurous and loving partner, Tim Smith. As well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by her cousins, Zakary and Michael Durdahl, whose memory she held close to her heart, and who we trust have welcomed her with open arms in the next life.
