The story of
Our beloved mother, and wife, Joyce Ann Patterson (née Derickson), 77, of Highlands Ranch, CO passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 14th, 2026. Joyce was born October 15th, 1948 to Joyce Kathleen and Edwin Derickson. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri. Joyce married James Michael Patterson in Denver, Colorado on December 24, 1969 and raised two children, James Robert and Jessica. A true force of nature, Joyce was a loving mother who always put her children first and a wonderful grandmother to her eight grandchildren, Jon, James Austin, Cassandra, Gabriel, Honour, Declan, Lily and Aidan. Joyce was a dedicated employee for several premiere financial institutions in Denver, CO for over four decades. Joyce loved many things in her lifetime. She relished an afternoon of competitive thrift shopping, a long drive in the mountains, and sharing her wry and slightly dark sense of humour with her friends and family. She loved reading, listening to opera and big, splashy Broadway musicals. She loved Paris, France and dreaming about all the beautiful places in the world she had both seen, and wanted to see. She will be carried forever in the hearts of those she loved, and who loved her. Joyce is survived by her husband, James; children, Jim (Heather), Jessica; eight grandchildren; brother, Stephen and sisters, Caroline and Bonnie. An interment service will be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery at 1pm on July 10th, 2026. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Dementia Society of America (www.dementiasociety.org).
