Jose Guadalupe Antonio Corona (1941–2026)
Jose Guadalupe Antonio Corona, age 84, of Los Angeles, California, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, following a courageous eight-year battle with cancer.
Born in Mexico City, Antonio immigrated to Los Angeles in 1967 with a vision of opportunity and a better life for his future family. He turned that vision into a reality through decades of tireless hard work, perseverance, and sacrifice. Antonio eventually retired from the Los Angeles Unified School District as a maintenance worker, though his labor never truly ended at the clock; he frequently took on construction and odd jobs to ensure his family always had everything they needed.
To those who knew him, Antonio was the embodiment of grit. When diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and told he had only six months to live, he chose a different path. He refused to be defined by his illness, enduring the hardest days with a determination that his oncologist described as a “true miracle.” He showed his children and grandchildren exactly how to keep going when the road feels impossibly long, remaining deeply appreciative of the friends and caregivers who walked that road with him.
He is survived by his spouse, Roselia; his two daughters, Natalia Avalos and Sonia Corona, and his son, Anthony Corona; his son-in-law, Rene Avalos, and daughter-in-law, Joanna Vargas-Corona; as well as 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Maria De Lourdes Corona, Jesus Corona, and Blanca Paredes.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to the medical professionals who supported him throughout his journey.
