The story of
With sadness we announce the death of Jose Arturo (Art) Valdez. He was born in Capulin, Colorado on February 8th, 1944 and passed away on January 9th, 2024 at the age of 79. He was predeceased in death by: his parents, Orlando Valdez and Maria Valdez; his brothers, William Anthony Valdez, Orlando Jr. Valdez (Sunny), Peter Valdez and sister Wilma Twist. He is survived by: his siblings, Margaret Valdez, Arlene Valdez (Steve) and Marie Trevizo. His children, Karen Donaldson (Jim), Jeffrey Valdez (Laurie) and Jonnie Cordova (Randy). Grandchildren; Nikki and Sarah Donaldson, Jenna, Dominic (DJ) and Tori Cordova and Melanie and Christina Valdez. Lots of nieces and nephew and his special little dog, Chico. We especially want to acknowledge the exceptional love and care Art received from Deana Rivera, who he considered to be like a daughter to him. She was truly an Angel in caring for Art during his final months against his battle with Cancer. Finally, we also want to thank the many tenants of Lampliter Apartments who helped in so many ways where Art and his brother Pete were longtime Property Captains! They were beloved members of this community for several years and will be deeply missed! In honoring Art’s wishes, no formal services are being held. A Memorial Bench will be dedicated from Situs Management in Art and Pete Valdez’s name in the Lampliter Gardens. A later date will be announced this Spring at which time a Memorial Service will be held.
