Giovanne Dante Ascenzi, 73, passed away peacefully at home in Mesa, Arizona, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Italy to Gioacchino and Elisa Ascenzi, Giovanne—known to many as John—was raised in Fulton, New York alongside his siblings Maria, Giuseppe, Roberto, and Dante. He is also remembered alongside extended family including Amelia Laboni of Italy, Maria Salome Ascenzi and Assunta Lisa of Toronto. In time, he made his way west, living in Washington and Arizona, where he built a life centered on family, friendship, and the simple joys he cherished most.
John had a deep love for his family, which remained the heart of his world. Throughout his life, he worked in both the furniture and transportation industries, building a career through dedication and hard work. He found happiness living in Seattle, Phoenix, and most recently Tennessee. Outside of work, he enjoyed music, golf, and baseball—passions that brought him both relaxation and connection with others.
Known for his warmth and charisma, he was truly a friend to everyone he met. John was the life of the party, a natural storyteller, and someone who could strike up a conversation with anyone, leaving them better for it.
He is survived by his devoted wife, his sons and daughter, his beloved grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends who will carry his memory forward with love.
John chose cremation and spent his final moments in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
