John A Gomez Sr, 93, passed away peacefully in Lafayette, CO, Dec 15th, 2023, surrounded by his family. John was born in Johnstown, CO in 1930. He was the eldest sibling of 5 and only son to Matias Gomez and Aurora "Dora" Apodaca-Gomez. They moved to Longmont, CO when John was a child where he chose to build his life and raise his family.
He married Andrea "Edna" Martinez June 27th, 1953. Together they had 2 children but raised 3, Theresa Annette and John Anthony Jr. and Josie (Martinez) Valdez. They bought their home in early 1970s on Missouri Ave for which they opened their doors to any and all who needed a warm place to stay and belly full of food. John was a very loving and kind man who enjoyed anything that invoved celebrating with friends and/or family. He enjoyed having birthday parties or any excuse to have family over to celebrate life. He especially enjoyed living with multiple generations in his home.
John worked as a heavy equipment operator and worked for one company that changed their name multiple times over the years, For which he had his involvement in paving a majority of all main streets in Longmont, Lyons, Estes Park and surrounding areas. He retired from Western Mobile in the early 2000's. He looked forward to trips to California to visit his mother, sisters and family as often as he could.
He was loved and respected by all; Always giving love and support to those who needed it most.
He is preceded in his death by his Wife, Mother, Father, Son, daughter-in-Law Sherri Gomez, Son-in-Lsw Joe Valdez,, Granddaughter Jessica Walton. He is survived by his daughters: Josie Valdez Her children: Joey, Justine Jill, Eugene and Jerome Valdez; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; Daughter: Tracie (Dave) Dorian, Grandchildren: Lacey Walton-Jarvis, her daughters: Destiney Munro and Elora; Amber (Dave) Dejmal, their sons: William and Anthony; Ryan (Britney) Gomez; Krystal Gomez and her son Marcos; His Great-granddaughters Shelby (Trevor) Sexton: thier children Emmette and Everest; and Kendall (Louie) Sexton, their son Silas. His sisters Stella Ojeda, Grace Duncan, Vera (Joe) DeHerrera, and Florence Romero, Numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family.
He will be missed very much by all who knew and loved him.
