JANUARY 21, 1955 - OCTOBER 6, 2024
The path of life can be at times a difficult one – filled with disappointment, heartache, and a sense of loss; but the rewards of the journey can be glorious, especially when a special person comes into your life. A person who, with a simple smile, a gentle touch, or a kind word, can make you feel that no matter how hard the journey, everything will be alright. Such a person was Jeanne’: elegant and proud in appearance, warm and caring inside and outside, strong but gentle. We will miss her bright and infectious laugh. She may be gone in body, but the memories that we made together will remain immortal.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Jeanne Marie Lampton, who left us suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 69 on October 6, 2024. Jeanne’s beautiful smile and loving personality will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her and were loved by her.
Jeanne’Marie (Costa) Lampton was born January 21, 1955, to Dorothy M. (Traylor) Costa and Joseph C. Costa. She was raised in Denver, Colorado along with her three sisters: Joyce (Costa) Nelson (Wayne), Linda (Costa) Sturman (Paul), and Paula (Costa) Pond (Steve). She graduated from Mapleton High School, and attended some college, but that was not for her – she wanted to travel! Jeanne’ pursued a career as a Flight Attendant working for Northwest Airlinesfor 28 years, and subsequently Delta Airlines due to a merger, and she loved it. She volunteered to transport troops during Operation Iraqi Freedom and was commended. During this time, she was able to fulfill her love of travel and visited multiple countries, always sharing memories with co-workers, family, and friends, before retiring.
Jeanne’ continued to share her love of travel with her long-time best friend and husband, Kenneth Lampton, and also with family and friends. Not only did she enjoy flying to faraway places, but she also loved road trips around the United States. She enjoyed sharing these memories with others over a glass of wine, an evening game of cards, or an intimate talk. Jeanne’ found joy in not only travel but in the shared moments with family and friends. Her loving smile was always followed by a helping hand. She found joy in taking care of those she loved, whether it was providing a delicious home-cooked meal (or cookies or brownies), a clean, warm, and welcoming home, or a handwritten note or letter to express her love and send encouraging words.
Jeanne’s passing will leave an unfillable void in our hearts!!
She is survived by her husband, Ken, her two daughters she happily and lovingly helped raise - Megan (Dinger) Schaudel (James) and Melissa (Dinger) McCrary (Brian), six grandchildren, two sisters- Linda and Paula- many nieces and nephews, several aunts and uncles, and many cousins. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, and sister Joyce.
