In Loving Memory of Jamie Lee Heckman
Jamie Lee Heckman, proud father, grandfather,
veteran, and friend, passed away leaving behind a legacy of stories, strength, and a life fully lived.
Born and raised in Reno, Nevada, Jamie grew up with a rebel spirit that truly came alive in Virginia City, where he earned a reputation for raising hell and racing camels—yes, real camels. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force, a chapter of his life he carried with deep pride.
Jamie was never without a camera slung over his shoulder. Photography was more than a passion—it was his way of connecting with the world. He captured beauty, humor, and honesty in everyday life, from family gatherings to quiet landscapes. His photos weren’t just snapshots; they were memories preserved with care and intention.
He was a man of grit and heart.
Later in life, he joined Tang Soo Do with his son, Robert Heckman, and earned a black belt—proving that discipline and determination have no age limit. He shared countless memories with his beloved grandson, Ethan Heckman, especially during his retirement years in Las Vegas, where the two were nearly inseparable.
He leaves behind his daughter Brooke Heckman, son Robert Heckman, and grandson Ethan Heckman, who were his world. He is also remembered fondly by his ex-wife, Bonnie Roark, and honorary granddaughter Mackenzie Highline, who brought him joy and laughter.
Jamie’s days were best known for morning coffee talks with family—solving the world’s problems one cup at a time—and winding down with afternoon margaritas by the river. He traveled far, loved deeply, and embraced every moment.
He will be remembered for his sharp wit, strong will, his constant presence behind the lens, and his unwavering love for his family.
Rest easy, Jamie. You earned it.
