James M. Hunt, 79, of Oklahoma City, passed away on May 10, 2025 at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home in Ogden, Utah.
Jim, originally from Shawnee, Oklahoma, was born on February 17, 1946 to Myron and Jeanetta Hunt. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1964, served in the Army until 1974, and graduated from the University of Houston with a B.S. in Economics in 1976. He also received a Digital Electronics Specialist certification from the Unified Electronics Institute in 1981. He installed alarm systems for Sonitrol for 30 years.
Jim married Lena Pinkston on May 15th, 1993, whom he loved dearly for 29 years. Jim was a kind, gentle spirit with a witty personality and sense of humor to match. He enjoyed the outdoors, music, art, birdwatching, cars and fixing things.
Jim is survived by his daughters Karen Hutton of Salt Lake City and Emily Owens of Malad City, Idaho, his stepdaughter Deanna Maddox of Oklahoma City and his grandchildren, Deseray Cummings and Nathan Hutton.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lena Hunt, stepson Robert Maddox, brother David Hunt, and his parents.
A celebration of life will be held on May 24, 2025, in Malad City, Idaho. Jim will be laid to rest next to his wife Lena at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
