The story of
James (Jim) Donald Stephens, 87, passed away on June 22, 2026 in Parker, Colorado. Jim was born to Bartie and Iva Stephens on September 11, 1938 in Ruleton, Kansas. When he was 15 years old, the family moved to Tiny Town, Colorado. He graduated from Evergreen High School in 1956. Jim joined the Navy in 1958 and was attending the Grand Lakes Naval Training Center in North Chicago, IL, when he met his wife Judy (Baumgardner). They were married in March of 1964 in Royalton, MN. It was in North Chicago that they welcomed their first daughter, Helen in February of 1965. In 1966, he was deployed to Hawaii to serve in the Vietnam War. Michele was born in September of that year. Their next move came in 1968 and took them across the country to Virginia Beach, VA. Heidi was born in August. In 1970 they moved to Woodbridge, VA, where their fourth daughter, Paula was born in October. His final military transfer came in 1972 and they moved back to Virginia Beach where he was stationed on the USS Shenandoah until his retirement in 1976. The family moved back to his home state of Colorado where he resided until his death. Jim is survived by his wife, Judy of 62 years, daughters; Helen Sneed (Robbie); Michele Bohlander (Dan), Heidi Faughnan; Paula Bolejack (Diamond); grandchildren; Lanie Pullara (Joe), RJ Sneed (Kayla), Cole Roberts, Jake Roberts (Josie), Katie Faughnan, Caleb Bolejack, Shawna Harvey, Clyde Bolejack (Sierra) and his 9 great grandchildren; Grady, Acey, Sterling, Sutton, Hadley, Tymber, JJ, Zane and Kyra. Number ten is due to arrive in January to Jake and Josie. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Bartie and Iva Stephens; both his brothers and their wives, Dan (Barbara) and Morris (Judy) Stephens; his great grandson, Grayson Colt Bolejack and son in law, Jim Faughnan. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Elizabeth Fire Protection District, PO Box 441, Elizabeth, CO 80107. In the memo line include Fire Station 3. A memorial service will be held at Parker United Methodist Church on July 16, 2026 at 2 pm. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the service.
