The story of
Harold succumbed to age related issues on December 21, 2023. He was 97 years old, having been born to Danish immigrant parents Jens and Ellen Andersen on February 13, 1926 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He joined the Navy to serve his country during WW2 at the tender age of 17. After serving his four years, Harold returned to Iowa to marry Betty Jensen in 1950. He built their first home with help from his dad, brother and brother-in-law. Within five years, two daughters joined the couple. He not only worked a full time executive job, he also earned a B.A. degree from UNO and prioritized family activities. Harold enjoyed raising his daughters with a sense of humor and a zest for life. Personal passions included travel, music, tennis and sailing. In 2015, Harold moved to Scottsdale ,Arizona at the behest of his daughter Patricia and son-in-law Roger. Together they built a casita on their property where Harold would live out his twilight years filled with laughter, good food and frequent visits from family. Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Betty and daughter Susan. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Roger, 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will take place sometime in the spring 2024 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. If you would like to make a donation in honor of Harold Andersen, please consider The Foothills Caring Corps of Carefee, Arizona.
