Harold (Dean) Coplan, passed away unexpectedly at his home on December 2, 2025 at 64 years old. Dean leaves behind three children: Christina Hanson, Jessica Coplan, Brandon Coplan, their mother Sheri Coplan, son-in-law Patrick Hanson, and four grandchildren: Raelynn, Shayla, Thorin and Cian. He also leaves behind a wide circle of friends. He was preceded in death by his father Marion and his mother Shirley.
Dean was born on October 12, 1961 in Wichita, KS to Shirley and Marion Coplan. Alongside his parents and grandmother Sybil, Dean’s loving stepmother and step-siblings created the close-knit family that supported him growing up. After moving to California as a young adult he met Sheri where they started a family before moving to Lincoln, Nebraska. During this time, he created lasting memories with his family—road trips to Minnesota for gymnastics meets, vacations to North Carolina and Disney, and days spent camping and fishing at the local lakes.
Dean was closely tied to his family, and surrounded himself with his children throughout his life. He never lived more than a 10 minute drive from his children, whether that be in the apartment right above his, or the room right next door. Dean always made himself available to his loved ones. This dedication led to him picking up and moving his whole life to Washington state with his two daughters, Son-in-law, and grandchildren in 2017.
Dean had different professions throughout his life, but the most important involved caring for others. It was also through these professions that he curated a wide circle of friends. On his time off he would often meet up with old co-workers to catch up and share hours of laughter together. With his quick wit and sarcasm, Dean was able to make friends wherever he went and had a knack for making even the most stubborn of neighbors crack a smile.
To honor Dean’s wishes, his ashes will be spread in meaningful locations by his loved ones in lieu of a service.
