The story of Gregory
Gregory Alan Taves passed peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his loved ones on March 22nd, 2023 at age 61. He was born in Santa Maria, California and grew up in Payson, AZ alongside his best friend and brother Steve Taves. They worked for their parents (Barbara and Edward Taves) who owned and operated a general store/boat rental at Woods Canyon Lake. As a young man Greg moved down to the valley where he attended Arizona State University obtaining a BA in Science and Business Management. Greg began his sales career in Phoenix, AZ where his daughter was born in 1996. He quickly dominated software sales in the southwest becoming a Senior Account Manager for Gateway computers and moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he enjoyed biking alongside the Rio Grande with his daughter Natalie, going to wine festivals, and ingesting a lot of green chile. Greg settled down in Tucson, Arizona where he became heavily involved with ministering to the youth at his church and later becoming a Physical Education teacher and director at Leman Academy. He married the love of his life Edith Taves in 2016 in Manila, Philippines where Edith is from. They spent many years together laughing and loving one another. Greg was known for his beaming smile, his warmth, intelligence, humor and overall loving demeanor. Greg was an exemplary husband, father, son, brother and friend. He will be remembered as a hero to those that loved him, and missed dearly.
