The story of
Gayle Ann Eckland born 4.14.46 in Seattle, passed away 7.10.2025 in San Francisco Gayle Ann is survived by her younger brother Jeffrey Brown. She was greeted in Heaven by her mother Jean, father Michael and brother Norman. Growing-up in Seattle, graduating from Ingraham High School, Gayle eventually relocated to San Francisco where she lived most of her life. Gayle was a city girl, enjoying the San Francisco vibe, living within two blocks of Fisherman’s Wharf, close enough to hear the harbor seals and seagulls each morning. In younger years, Gayle was an avid skier, leaving work at Nordstroms and heading straight to the slopes in her VW Bug at every opportunity, eventually becoming a ski instructor in Sun Valley. Gayle describes very happy memories from her youth, spending time with relatives on Whidbey Island, riding horses, driving an old GMC truck to/from the store at far too young an age, and the kindness of her father’s family. She loved to do thoughtful little kindnesses for her co-workers and friends, baking desserts, providing assistance, and cooking surprise meals for a group when invited as a guest as her way of giving thanks. Gayle had her very own soft giggle when sharing some of these memories that made her happy. In recent years, Gayle developed a close friendship with her best friend in San Francisco, Diane Weismuller. They shared a love of visiting River Ranch at Lake Tahoe. Gayle had a faithful, caring friend Nolan who would help her get out to shop or to enjoy her favorite butter pecan ice cream at a nearby creamery. Gayle is remembered as always very kind to her brother, Jeff, in recent times often sharing long conversations of life memories. She will be very much missed.
