The story of
In Loving Memory of Gary Alan Rounds aka Pops Gary passed away peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2025, in Ft Lupton Colorado. Gary was 74 years old. Gary was born on March 2,1951 to Glen and Mildred Rounds in Denver, Colorado. His journey of life was filled with love for his family and friends. Gary graduated from JF Kennedy High School where he was a pitcher for the baseball team. Gary accepted a scholarship to play baseball with Mesa State College for one short year before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He served his country from 1970-1974. During this time, he married his life partner, Jan Joos in Arvada Colorado on June 19, 1971. They settled in Grand Junction, Colorado, where they raised their three children: Scot Rounds, Sheli Nelson, and Jason Rounds. Gary was a dedicated employee of United Parcel Services for 25 years, until he retired at 55 years old. Friends and family were extremely important to Gary. He was always happy, kind, silly and loved life to the fullest. He enjoyed many years of sharing his love of golf, the outdoors, traveling, and playing softball with many of you. Gary loved a good party. Those memories will never be lost. He is survived by his wife, Jan Rounds; Son, Scot Rounds (Laura) and grandson's Chad Taylor (Taylor and Brooks), Chase Taylor, and Gunnar Rounds. Gary's daughter, Sheli Nelson (Rex), grandsons Brett Nelson (Bekah) , and Jared Nelson (Goldene and Willow). Gary's youngest son, Jason Rounds (Trisha), and grand-daughter Shaelynn Rounds. Gary's sisters, Arlene Hill (Warren) and Sandy Rounds (Andrew Sanchez). Brother-in-laws Ken Joos, Lee Joos, Jay Joos (Laurie) and many nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his grandson Keith Rounds, mother, Millie Rounds, and father, Glen Rounds. A celebration of life will be held on January 2, 2026 2 pm to 4 pm at the American Legion Hall 9959 Wadsworth BLVD, Broomfield, CO 80021. Please RSVP 407 821-0117 or janroundsx1@gmail.com
